The Samsung Galaxy On Nxt has been released at a price tag lower than the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime in India. Although these two phones bear different branding title, but these two are in fact the same handset. Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is rebranded as the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt, as the company announced that the Galaxy On series is made for India only. Samsung’s smartphone market hurts a lot lately with the Note 7 fiasco, but their Galaxy On Nxt is an amazing smartphone to be honest. And no, it does not explode.

There’s a thick chance of mistaking the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt for the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, because both are essentially the same handset. The build materials have been chosen pretty carefully, it is built of metal and glass to provide a premium look and feel to the user’s hand. Gone are the days when Samsung used to produce removable battery phones only – now they produce unibody smartphone even in the mid-level range. The Samsung Galaxy On Nxt is no different, it’s a brushed metal unibody smartphone to add a familiar premium touch.

You may not expect a fingerprint scanner from a sub-20k rupees Samsung smartphone, but the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt in fact comes with one incorporated underneath the home button, like their flagship range.

Hardware Configuration

The Samsung Galaxy On Nxt packs powerful hardware underneath its premium brush finished metallic body. The CPU is Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 7870 Octa core CPU with 1.6 GHz clock speed. The GPU attached to this system is Mali-T830MP2. There internal storage options for the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt are 16/32GB, but the RAM is the same 3 GB unit on both of them. Alongside the internal storage, the microSD card slot takes memory chips up to 256 GB.


Unlike the flagship smartphones, Samsung has used an IPS LCD panel in the Nxt instead of an Super AMOLED panel. The phone still retains its original beauty and functionality, but the SAMOLED comes with its own beauty properties. The 5.5 inch display on Samsung Galaxy On Nxt is a 1080p unit with 401 ppi pixel density. It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.


Camera is one of the main hardware elements today’s consumers would be looking into. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt is an excellent shooter when compared to the price tag. The rear shooter is 13 megapixels with f/1.9 aperture and 28mm focal length. The front camera takes photos in 8 megapixels with the same f/1.9 aperture lens. A bigger aperture allows for brighter and sharper selfies.


The Samsung Galaxy On Nxt is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, none of the Samsung devices have received an update to Android 7.0 Nougat yet. However, TouchWiz is integrated on top of stock Android. Anyone can change the look through the in-built Theme Store as well.
